Structural insulated panels are high performance building panels that are used for walls, roofs and floors.  They are used to build everything from restaurants to houses.

What are SIPS?

The solid core of a structural insulated panel is expanded polystyrene (EPS.) Both sides of the EPS are bonded to either OSB, plywood, steel or aluminum. The result is an energy efficient, versatile and strong panel.

Why use SIPS?

There are many reasons for the growing demand for SIP construction.

Consistency Because panels are fabricated in a controlled environment, every single product is checked for quality and consistency.  It eliminates “on the job” variation that traditional construction produces.	Speed Pre numbered panels are delivered to the job site.  Entire walls are constructed in minutes. There is less labor needed than traditional “stick” construction.
Insulation SIPs offer tremendously better insulation values.  One Oak Ridge National Laboratory test indicated that the total “R” value of SIP construction was over 30% higher than comparable stick construction.
